Goodnight Moon

A few of weeks ago we went to Denton, TX for a mid-week get-away.  It was sooo nice.  We didn't do anything besides hang out with family and swim.  After the trip was over and we pulled back up to reality, we walked into quite a warm house.  An hour later the electricity goes off on the entire street.  I stays that way well into the night and well past Kaylena's bedtime of 7:00.

We decided that we unpacked all that we could and decided to do a campout in the back of the pickup!  We sat out in our front driveway and slowly watched the majority of our neighbors leave, perhaps to find a cooler environment.  As we did, I pointed out the moon and the stars.  She has always loved stars, but has never quite been awake and outside late enough to actually see real stars.

She was giggling, signing, pointing, and saying star! star!  When a car would drive by, she would attempt to show the car the star by first introducing the star to the car, then the car to the star.  Unfortunately, the cars seemed to be going faster than she could complete the full acquaintance.

Tonight we were once again out.  This time walking home from our friends house across the neighborhood and Kaylena spotted the moon.  When we turned the corner so that the moon was behind her, she became so determined to see the moon and star! that I turned her around and just pulled the stroller behind me so she could keep an eye on them.  We caught a picture of it.

When we got home, she was still quite serious about seeing the night lights.  We walked into our backyard to find the pair and convinced her to wave bye.  It was neat to see how passionate she was about seeing this, yet it was already past her bedtime.  As we walked in the house I told her that the Moon had to go to work.  She asked about the star and I told her the same.  She asked it a couple more times, but finally said Moon work?  Yes, Kaylena.  The moon works while we sleep. What a miracle it is.  G'night.
