Today was a filled-non-filled day for us. We got the kiddos up to head over to Yukon to have Jason and my yearly physicals/exams done. We set up the appointments so that there would just a little overlap in children shifting (since Kaylena didn't want to do the movie date morning with my mom), and that seemed to work well. In the end, boys were with boys and girls were with girls. :) hehehe I did end up having to get a Tetnis shot/Whooping cough shot which was weird- but not nearly as bad as I had anticipated....
Then, we stopped in to see my mom and yes, eat lunch. Kaylena got to watch Peter Pan, Jason got a power nap, and Joseph and I got to do whatever. After that we took a quick jaunt to the other side of the neighborhood to play at the park for a while before we headed up to Quail Springs for our eye exams. Again, girls with girls and boys with boys. :) That allowed us some time afterwards to walk around the mall a bit. Which we came to the sudden realization that A. Kaylena hasn't been in a Mall since she's been stroller tiny; B. We haven't been to a mall with a preschooler and a toddling baby; and C.This was waaay less relaxing then we remember a mall ever being.... We left shortly after avoiding a huge meltdown and headed for dinner.
The main event for tonight was the switching of the carseats. Normally the kids are in the truck because Jason said that if in an accident, he wants us to come out on top. For our road trip, we are taking the wagon to Colorado because it gets better gas mileage AND as we found out tonight, Joseph's chair can fit rear-facing without having to have the passenger sacrifice leg space. We bribed Kaylena to take a bath by saying that when she got out she could come with me IN DADA'S CAR!! That worked out great, and we ended up swinging by her friend's house to drop off Abby and Hyrum's belated-party but non-belated birthday gifts that we had for them. Initially the plan was to say happy birthday and chat for a bit without her going outside again, but it's just so fun to see her play with other kids, I couldn't be a party pooper about that. I think they were going on safari, but whatever they were doing, Kaylena LOVED it.
Kaylena and I came home, had some late-night applesauce, and she is now fast asleep. Jason took this quick picture on the way to bed. This is definitely an "I'm exhausted" face, and I love it.
