Kaylena's recent style.  She's always been pretty good at matching, but is now experiementing with new hair styles! :)
Thursday was a YAY! day for us for Kaylena's swimming class.  For whatever reason, it finally clicked for her that swimming was fun, her teacher wasn't out to get her, and the faster she got in the pool, the longer she could stay in!!  She was first in line, and second in the pool!!  WAAAAHOOOO!!! through this experience I have met a nice couple who has encouraged their daughter to help Kaylena feel more comfortable, as well as get excited that by the time they got there, she was in the water instead of screaming!! :)
It was interesting though to see the differences in teachers.  Kaylena's main teacher- Miss Mandy- the one that took her out to the middle of the pool the first day, and thus got clobbered, screamed at and avoided for this entire month, still would try to talk to Kaylena.  She'd say "hi" and at the end of every class I would go up with Kaylena to encourge, "say goodbye to your teacher Miss Mandy!" which never got any response.  Nonetheless, Miss Mandy continued to try to encourage her to try the things the other kids were- this time only asking and not forcing her to do anything, hehehe- but it was nice to see her at least offer!  It must have worked too because at the end of class Kaylena was talking up a storm to her. :)
The difference though is with her other teacher that has only been there the past couple weeks.  She doesn't seem as into it with the kids, and didn't ONCE ask Kaylena if she wanted to swim on the noodles with her.  She barely even looked at her, and even when the second teacher got all of the kids out of the pool from her group, she just left Kaylena there in the water on the pool stand.  Obviously, I don't know her name, so I realize I haven't made the effort I should either but I'm thinking that she should at least be acknowledged by the other teacher!  That lady was there the first day with the whole crazy fit thing, then has been there obviously multiple times to possibly recognize that for whatever reason Kaylena has a hard time getting in the water with a bunch of strangers in a very loud room two hours shy of bedtime, but still...I didn't think too much of it until the other teacher had helped the other 4 kids in her group out of the pool and then turned away from Kaylena who was actually looking at her, waiting to get out.  Odd....but it made me recognize that whatever situation someone is in or whatever situation you THINK someone is in, you should ALWAYS offer an invitation.
And that carried over into Thursday night when I got to meet with a Young Woman and her dad.  So many people think they can label others, when in reality even if they do have a label, who's right is it to give it,  and who's going to find out if it's even valid??  that's me. :) It was a great meeting introducing Personal Progress to one of my Laurels, and I'm so so so grateful for a good experience and support that this young woman has.

Friday night we took a road trip to our backyard for some fire, hotdogs, smores, and camping!  The kids thought it was great and I surprisingly slept quite well in the tent.  Possibly because we brought the airmattress out- and that air mattress is like an old friend! :)

Also in news, Friday morning we went and officially ordered our kitchen cabinets and countertops...which are scheduled to arrive in 6-8 weeks.  But hey, what's 2 more months after 2 years!?  Nada!! :)

Today we recovered from camping and did MAJOR toy overhaul.  I still have a box of random toys in the livingroom, and a box of remnants from the two weeks that Jason and I went camping, but at least I can recognize our home now.

Hello to the "Brave Backyard" campers,

Sounds like you've discovered the secret to a really Happy Time Summer - my favorite summer memories are at my grandparents home in the country because they let all the grandkids sleep out in the orchard and watch the stars and falling stars.
