The Atonement of Jesus Christ applies to people who lived before His mortal ministry, just as it applies to those who lived during His mortal ministry and just as it applies to us today.

It applies to my children and their children, my fathers and their fathers.  Just as it does to those families who came to hear the words of King Benjamin speak by gathering together and pitching their tents towards the temple.
