Our rain dance worked.

So, it's been 100 plus degrees for the past 22 days.  13 days straight.  Then, yesterday it randomly rained!  And then this morning it did the same random monsoon rain.  Quite strange but we'll take it.  In fact, last night we went outside to go 'swimming' (meaning, play in the blow-up pool and run through the sprinklers) and I actually got chilly running through the water.  I came in and checked and it was 82!  Brrrrr :)

But before this cold front moved in, we were doing everything possible to stay cool ( as noted in the previous post).   These tactics included:

Going to our friends' parents house....who has a real pool.  Slide and All!!

Enjoying my parent's get-away weekend vacation pool!

The classic watering the kids...I mean, watering the lawn.

And of course, just chillin inside.  Seriously, could he look any more comfortable!?
Jojo is rockin the 2 month thing.

And... nothing could be cooler than a new outfit from Great-grandma!!

Throughout all this heat, Kaylena has been quite creative in thinking of inside things to do.  We brought in a train set that our neighbor gave us when Joseph was born and although we didn't set up the table, she has plenty of floor space in her room to set up the tracks and 'play trains'.  She continues to sing a lot, and is developing clearer speech as well.  Her latest invention is her "cold shoes".

We were getting ready to leave yesterday and I told her to go get her shoes on.  She started running to the kitchen and so I stopped her and re-directed her to her bedroom- as she is often easily distracted- and she said, "No mama, shoes, chich chich (Kitchen)"  So, I let her go and she ran and opened the fridge and pulled her shoes out of her trick-or-treat pumpkin bucket.  "Look mama!  Cold shoes!"  Great idea!!

Joseph is absolutely in love with his older sister.  It's sweet to see them hold hands in the backseat of the truck, or hear Kaylena keep saying "hi!" to him and then hear him "coo".  He definitely can recognize people and has his favorites.  He wiggles and kicks and is still rolling and scooting.  He loves looking out to see what's going on, but still favors snuggling in the carrier for his mid-day naps. I'm pretty sure he started to laugh the other day and is sleeping a good 6 hours a night, which makes us smile too! :)

That heat sounds like the summer I was pregnant with Isaac--it was miserable. I think I counted twenty days of over 100 degree weather. Man, Oklahoma can get so hot!! Come visit us--it's not quite that hot! We have been getting rain this week so maybe it will move on to you tomorrow too. It sounds like you are finding fun things to do even with all the hot weather though.
