August travels

Well, our official summer vacation is over.  Although, I don't really consider it a summer as I said in the last post, we didn't travel anywhere more than an hour away, and Jason still worked M-F as a handyman, landscaper and rental-house fixer-upper....so we saw him just as much as during the school year.  That must be what it's like for people who have a normal job without summer break!...or Oklahoma City Public Schools this year.. :)

Anyway, our summer had quite the marriage touch to it, and we were able to go to 3 wedding receptions and only miss one.  In the beginning of August we were invited to the temple to witness the sealing of a guy that Jason knew from Norman to a gal that I met at BYU who actually lived in Norman as well.  It was a beautiful sight and it was great to be able to attend their union for eternity.  After it was over, my sister and dad brought the kiddos up to the temple for some quick-before-we-melt-in-the-110-degree-weather-pictures.  Luckily, Fountain + Oklahoma wind = splash pad temple grounds

Kaylena with her favorite Aunt.

The first summer after Kaylena was born, we were road-tripping it everywhere.  One of the places we got to go was the SLC temple where we have a picture of her on the temple grounds.  We thought it would be a neat tradition to continue.  So, this being Joseph's first summer- we chose the OKC temple grounds as our 3-month old's summer temple picture.

So cute.

The next weekend, we attended a reception at the Waterford Marriott.  Qutie the fun occasion and we ended up sitting right by the dance floor.  It's a good thing too because Kaylena wanted to dance to every song.  We held her back for the couple's first dance and family dance, then let her loose.  At all three receptions, we seriously stayed until cleanup......... :) This picture though, was one we took of Joseph staring that the dance floor.  What you don't see though, is what he was staring at (because the camera died and this is the only picture we got of the whole thing).  There was definitely a dance going on.....of all the single ladies.  hehe

While Jason's at school and before I start my day and half a week of work, I wanted to go to as many places that had cheap admission and the phrase, "Children under 3 are free." :)  Probably in this past month, Kaylena has really grown up a lot.  She's continuing to say more and has definitely been benefitting from more activity and play learning.  It's so fun to see her attach on to different likes and dislikes.  She loves playing outside with Apollo, cars, trains, animals, singing, brushing her hair, dancing, watching Finding Nemo, and looking at the sky.  Three just seems so big and yet it's only 2 months away.

Then it was, happy 3-2 for Jason!!

In celebration, we went to the Zoo for their $1 admission!!  So it was only $1 for all of us!! Well, because Joseph is tiny, Kaylena is "children under 3", and oh yeah- Jason still went to school that day. hehe

Joseph is becoming quite the little guy too.  He's rolling front to back and back to front.  He's scooting and laughing and drolling all over.  His favorite things are to watch Kaylena, be carried out to see what's going on, get his diaper changed, and take baths.

We went out to eat the night before Jason's birthday since his actual birthday we knew we'd only see him for a few minutes in the morning.  But.....when he got home a few minutes before 9, he was met with a fun reminder that his birthday wasn't over yet.  Surprisingly, although there was a string of balloons that continued to pop throughout the afternoon, those 2 yellows and 1 purple remained until that evening and into the next day.

So as far as our road-trip-planning progression..... we have a list, we'll check it against our plans, but our big TO DO is our Kitchen for Christmas Break!!!  Hopefully it goes better than last year....
